BREAKING NEWS - Is Hemeti Guilty or Not? Discover the Truth About Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo’s Legacy

Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemeti, is a politician who’s in charge of the Sudanese military. He was chosen to be the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group that was involved in the Darfur conflict in the early 2000s, and the deputy leader for the Sovereign Council of Sudan, which is known to serve as the executive body of the transitional government after the overthrow of former President Omar al-Bashir in 2019.  With him as the leader the RSF became a strong military force that played a significant role in the 2019 protests that also led to the removal of al-Bashir.

Although today, he is remembered by the crimes he is charged with rather than his leadership abilities. On June 3, 2019 the RSF launched an unprovoked attack on a group of protesters who had gathered for a sit-in protest on the military headquarters in the capital of Sudan. This movement is now known as the Khartoum massacre, what began as a peaceful protest later turned into a brutal confrontation that bewildered the world.

He stands today, stepping on the floors of the International Court of Justice, trying to defend himself and his actions. He is accused with various crimes against humanity including torture, genocide sexual violence and extrajudicial murders committed during the Khartoum massacre.  “My brother was alive, but dead at the same time” said Aisha Abdelwahab, when asked about the death of her father who was killed brutally, during the Khartoum massacre.

Annelie Spanopoulos, the Prosecutor of the case said “He deserves life in prison because of the crimes he committed, these crimes are truly against humanity. As he killed hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed hospitals, villages, and lives, how can we not find him guilty?.”

Hemeti, in his statement, talked about how he did what was quick and effective in order to stop a “powder keg” ready to explode. He wants his actions to be known as a Force that blocked a disaster that could spread globally.

After some further investigation the Council found Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo guilty on all charges.
